According to a recent report from Cleveland research, the contact lens industry demand increased May-June 2012. Coopervision revenue in Europe/Middle east/Africa was about 30%, however, the Avaira Toric comeback in the market has not been very successful (possibly related to the earlier recall).
Ciba Vision‘s daily disposable silicone hydrogel lens Dailies Total 1 performs very well, also from a clinical perspective. Dailies Total 1 is available in Europe since November 2011, not yet in the UK but is expected to launch in the US 2013.
Furthermore, Bausch & Lomb received FDA approval of their Biotrue™ OneDay contact lenses in the US. The lens is already launched in Italy, and will later this year be available in the UK and Nordic markets.
