Two alternative contact lenses to Johnson & Johnson 1 Day Acuvue Moist depending on what base curve you used are Aura ADM 1 Day and 1 Day Acuvue Trueye.

If you used base curve 9.0, we recommend to consider 1 Day Acuvue Trueye as replacements.

If you used base curve 8.5, there are two options; 1 Day Acuvue Trueye or Aura ADM 1 Day. If you want to save money, we recommend to consider Aura ADM 1 Day as a replacement lens. Aura ADM 1 Day are equivalent to 1 Day Acuvue Moist, but with a guarantee where you can return lenses for a full refund if not satisfied.

Ray-Ban sunglasses – How to find the right model

Particularly Small Ray-Ban sunglasses are returned because people have no idea of the size. When checking out Ray-Ban sunglasses online, it can be tricky to know what size or model will fit you. Buying them from Vision Direct means you get free track and trace shipping and you can return sunglasses free of charge in case they do not fit. We do, however, have some advice prior to buying them:

See the look with Ray-Bans on your face

Use a computer with webcam.
Find the model you want to buy on Visiondirect.co.uk under Ray-Ban sunglasses.
Locate your model on the Ray-Ban website under the sun section, easiest by typing the first four digits of the model name into the “search” field. Example: “2132″.
Click “Try on virtual mirror”, underneath the product image. This will allow you to try the sunglasses on and get an idea what they will look like.

Get an idea of Ray-Ban sizes

For each Vision Direct Ray-Ban sunglass model, there are 2 digits in the end of the model name that indicates the lens size in mm per eye. Example: For Ray-Ban – Aviator RB3025-W3235-55, the last two are 55. This number indicates the lens size 55 mm for one eye. Multiplied by 2 (one lens per eye) means the model is at least 110 mm, counting the lenses’ width only.

After you have some idea of whether or not the size will fit, you are welcome to buy your favorite Ray-Ban model online!

Precision UV is discontinued

We previously blogged about Precision UV being discontinued, as the lens officially is no longer produced by the manufacturer Ciba Vision. For Precision UV users that had base curve 8.7, our optician Benjamin recommends Aura monthly UV as replacements because:

Aura Monthly UV includes UV filter.
Comfort and thickness will be similar as both lenses are hydrogel lenses.
The slightly lower water content in Aura monthly UV means less deposits and in most cases, the same end of the day comfort level.
Powers range from -12.00 to +8.00.

If you require a higher or lower prescription than Aura Monthly UV offers, you can get Proclear samples fitted with your optician to ensure suitability. If you used Precision UV with base curve 8.4 or 9.1, you can check if we still have your prescription available in which case you will be able to buy them online. If not available, please ask your optician for suitable samples fitted, based on your individual needs.

AMO - Blink Refreshing Blink eye drops were developed to relieve dry and tired eyes, especially at the end of the day. Abbott Medical Optics (AMO) developed Blink Refreshing for both people with or without contact lenses. If your eyes feel dry more than twice a day, but it is not overly annoying, we recommended for you to use Blink Refreshing. However if you are a contact lenses wearer, Blink Contacts may be preferable.

Blink products are highly recommended for sensitive eyes as they are free from preservatives. Blink Refreshing is suitable for daily use, one dropper contains 2 drops (one per eye). One box contains 20 droppers with 0.5 ml fluid per dropper.

As you may be aware, there is a rumor that Johnson & Johnson are increasing prices in May 2013. The reason why 1 Day Acuvue is already going up in price is that 1 Day Acuvue have been discontinued in the UK by Johnson & Johnson and in similarity to 1 Day Acuvue for astigmatism, is being phased out to be replaced by the premium version, 1 Day Acuvue Moist. We are selling 1 Day Acuvue as long as we have stock after which you will no longer be able to add the product to your basket.
